The Age of Bondage System, Explained: How MagBound®, FrostLock® and Quick Cuffs Fit Together

One of the biggest advantages of making our own gear is that almost everything is designed to work together. Because we print and build a lot of our self-bondage signature pieces in-house, a lock, a cuff and a mount are not three separate purchases from three different worlds. They are parts of one connected system, meant to click together, swap around, and grow with you. That is exciting once you understand it - and a little overwhelming when you are staring at the shop for the first time. So here is the simple map: what each part does, how the pieces fit, and where to start.

The three layers: restraint, release and control

Almost every self-bondage setup, however simple or elaborate, comes down to three questions. What holds you, what lets you out, and what decides when. Keep those three layers in mind and the whole range suddenly makes sense.

The restraint layer is what actually holds you: cuffs, collars, a pillory, or a set of connected pieces. The release layer is what sets you free again, and it is the heart of safe solo play: our MagBound® magnetic lock or our FrostLock® ice lock, both designed to open on their own so a failure means freedom, not entrapment. The control layer is what decides the timing: a mechanical Retro-Timer, or the Smart Timer with Remote Connect for even adding the option for partner control.

As a concrete example, a pair of Quick Cuffs on the restraint layer, clipped to a MagBound® lock on the release layer, set to open after a chosen time with the Smart Timer on the control layer, is already a complete beginner setup, and every part of it can later be swapped or upgraded on its own without replacing the rest.

The restraint layer: Quick Cuffs, printed pieces and the cut-chain trick

Most people start here, and for good reason. Our Quick Cuffs are the friendly entry point: lightweight, made to your custom size and colour, and fitted with a detachable D-ring so you can clip a lock or connector straight on. From there the range extends naturally to a matching Quick Collar, rigid Octocuffs, and the Quick Cuffs Adapt with built-in connector loops for linking pieces together. Here is where the system really shows its thinking. You are not limited to our own cuffs. If you love the weight of steel, you can bring metal restraints into the same setup, and we make that easy on purpose. Our police handcuffs without a chain (also in carbon and black steel) are exactly what they sound like: the chain is already separated, so you can drop a MagBound® or FrostLock® straight into the gap and turn a classic pair of cuffs into a timed-release setup. 

The release layer: MagBound® or FrostLock®

Two families sit at the centre of everything, and both share the one quality that matters most for solo play: they are fail-safe, designed to open on their own rather than trap you if something goes wrong.

MagBound® Basic and MagBound® Premium are our electronic magnetic locks. They hold closed only while powered, open the instant power stops, and pair with a timer for precise, hands-free, and even remote release. FrostLock® Basic and FrostLock® Pro take the simplest possible path: two halves freeze together and separate only once the ice has melted, with no electronics at all. As a rule of thumb, reach for MagBound when you want precise timing, repeatability and remote control, and for FrostLock when you want simplicity and a slow, atmospheric release. The MagBound® system: one lock, many plates, mounts and extensions

MagBound® is worth a closer look, because it is really an ecosystem inside the ecosystem. At the centre is a single lock (Basic or Premium). Around it, four groups of parts let you take that one lock and adapt it to almost any scene.

• Plates and discs change what the lock can grip. The loop disc, snap hook disc, M8 threaded plate, medical lock disk and key holder disk each give the lock a different attachment point.
• Mounts decide where you anchor it: a chair mount, a wall mount, or the flexible universal mount that also fits FrostLock.
• Timers are the control layer: the mechanical Retro-Timer, the Smart Timer with Remote Connect for app and partner control, and the dual extension for running two locks at once.

You do not need to assemble the whole system piece by piece. We bundle the most useful starting points so you can begin with a complete, working setup and expand later.

Putting it together safely

A system is only as good as the way out. Whichever release you choose, always pair your main release with an immediate emergency option, test every setup under the conditions you will actually play in, and start shorter and simpler than your fantasy suggests. Keep an immediate backup within reach as well, such as a second key or a pair of safety scissors, so that needing out right now is never a problem.
