The Makers We Carry: The Brands Behind Our Curated Range

We design and 3D-print most of our gear ourselves, here in Berlin. But heavy steel restraints with real heritage are their own craft, and for those we would rather carry a specialist's best than make a weaker version of it. So alongside our own designs, we hand-pick a few outside makers. Here is who they are, and why each earns a place.

KUB: heavy polished steel and rare classics

If you love solid, cold, mirror-bright metal, KUB is where to look. Their pieces are heavy-gauge steel with real weight and a genuinely restrictive hold, yet stay surprisingly comfortable to wear, and the locks are the real thing: working snap locks and push-in keys, never decorative. The mirror polish is more than looks, too. It is only truly possible on solid steel, so it is a reliable sign you are holding the real deal. Best of all is the sheer range. We carry over 20 KUB pieces, including historical and collector classics you rarely find anywhere else, such as their Darby-style handcuffs, the rigid Irish 8 and full steel pillories, all at remarkable value for the quality.

Clejuso: German icons from Solingen

Clejuso is a piece of handcuff history: a traditional, family-owned maker in Solingen, best known for their famously oversized models, above all the No. 13 and the very heavy No. 15, with the lighter No. 12 and a No. 12A for larger wrists completing the line. They are such icons that we build our own Make-It-Rigid extension for them, which is exactly why we carry the cuffs themselves.

ASP: our pick for the best police cuffs

For working handcuffs, ASP is our favourite. Forged steel makes them hard and durable, the edges are beautifully rounded so they stay comfortable even under real tension, and the ratchet is exceptionally smooth. If you only ever own one serious pair, the ASP Plus is an easy one to recommend, and there is also a coloured-identifier version for anyone juggling more than one pair.

ALCYON: precise, colourful hinged cuffs

ALCYON adds something a little more playful. Their 5005 hinged cuffs come in different colours and pair precise engineering with a friendly price. The hinge keeps the wrists close for a firmer hold than a chain, and the double-sided keyholes make them easy to unlock from either side.
